"One of the most humbling and loving moments I have ever received on a trip took place on a cold winter's night in the front room of Gene and Kris’s bed & breakfast. My husband and I went to spend a couple days there with the Associate Pastor's of our church at that time. There were a total of six of us in their front room singing worship songs and testifying to God's goodness.
Kriss gracefully excused herself and left the room. A few minutes later she joined us again.
She walked over to me, got down on her knees, grabbed my feet, and gently placed homemade socks on my feet that she had made by hand. These were not just any socks. They were special socks that were made with the ability to be heated up. As each was one was slid on my cold feet, it felt like heavens' love being placed on them. The thing is, I had never made mention of my feet feeling frigid, had not displayed discomfort, and I had slippers on my feet. This is just how close Kriss and Gene are to the Lord, and in listening to His still small voice. I felt choked up as Kriss cared for me. Who was I to deserve this kind of love?
Beyond the warmth of those socks, God wanted me to know the passion and warmth in which He loved me. As per Kriss, I know that she found the same pleasure in sharing those socks and seeing my joy, as Jesus did in washing the disciple's feet. Years later, I had to have an emergency surgery. Kriss heard of this from a post my husband had made and sent me a pair of those, "socks of love" to comfort me during that time. The gift literally brought tears to my eyes, as I immediately remembered the precious night I experienced them for the first time.
How do you put into words the hospitality, warmth, pure excellence, spirit, soul and love that radiates from Gene and Kriss? The answer is simple. It is impossible! They are at a level that I feel God uses as a living example to show us all that it still can, and does exist on this side of heaven. The fact is, in all the words I have written to share of the testimonies we personally experienced, the excellence in everything the two of them do in taking care of their guests, the love that oozes from them, or anything else I could say that would seem to magnify them, this is NOT what is desired from either of them. Gene and Kriss are the type to gracefully read this letter, and any others that have or will be written, they will receive them with a smile, their hearts will be moved, and immediately they will look up to God, where once again they will give Him all the glory and praise. The pure and simple truth is this, they are humble and attentive servants that find no deeper pleasure than in serving the Lord and any of His children that He sends down their path for a special heaping of love, that only the two of them know how to perfectly serve up." by J Reeves (a Pastor wife)
